City of David

Over 3,000 years ago King David left Hebron for a small hilltop city known as Jerusalem, he established it as the unified capital for all the tribes of Israel. Next to the City of David, King Solomon built the first glorious temple on top of Mount Moriah, the site where Abraham bound his son Isaac. Since then, this hilltop became one of the most important sites in the world.

“At Hebron he reigned over Judah seven years and six months, and in Jerusalem he reigned thirty-three years over all Israel and Judah.” 2 Samuel 5:5

The inspiring story of the City of David continues as excavations go deep underground revealing some of the most incredible archeological finds of the ancient world. Above ground, the city is a lively center of activity where a visitor’s center brings worldwide travelers on exciting tours to the site where much of the Bible took place.

When you journey underground, you will discover the newest archaeological excavations of fortresses and passageways. As you wade through the water in King Hezekiah's 2,700- year old water tunnel, imagine King David's mighty men going through the tunnel, prepared to conquest the Jebusite city as described in 2nd Samuel 5:6.
